Bonnie Meyer is the first Director of LGBTQ Programs & Services. Prior to coming to NKU, she was a graduate student at Miami University where she is currently completing her doctoral work in the Department of Educational Leadership, with a graduate certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her dissertation study examines the experiences of LGBTQ identified public school teachers in Kentucky, and how living and teaching in a state where there are no statewide protections for LGBTQ individuals impacts their public and personal lives. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Integrated English Language Arts Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching English, both from Miami University.

Bonnie has more than ten years teaching experience, six of which were at Miami University. She is passionate about working with students and working to improve climate for LGBTQ individuals. She believes strongly that in order to improve one’s community, it’s important to be involved in the community. Because of this, she has served on numerous community organizations and initiatives at the local and state level. She is currently the president of Northern Kentucky Pride and is on the Board of Directors for the Center for Great Neighborhoods in Covington.

Bonnie resides in Covington with her partner, Katie, and their two beagles. She also has two teenagers.
