Sue Tyler is Executive Vice President and Chief Experience Officer (CXO) for Medical Mutual. Prior to her appointment as CXO in 2009, Sue served as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Medical Mutual and its subsidiaries for seven years.

In Sue’s role as CXO, she is responsible for the delivery of consistent, predictable and memorable customer experiences. She provides leadership to the claims, customer service, financial administration, membership, and benefit services departments and the life insurance and third-party administration groups. Her team increasingly relies on analytics and new technologies to improve the customer experience in an industry undergoing dramatic change.

After beginning her career in public accounting with Price Waterhouse, Sue entered the insurance industry as Finance Manager with Progressive Insurance. At Progressive, she held a variety of management positions including Division Controller and Auto Product Manager. She left Progressive to build a large multi-state auto insurance business for a start-up division of another property and casualty company. Sue was promoted from Senior Vice President of Marketing of that business to Division President. Her start-up experience also includes her efforts as founder and CEO of an independent insurance services organization.

Sue received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Case Western Reserve University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).

Sue serves as Chair of In Counsel with Women (ICWW), an organization committed to the development of professional and personal relationships among top women leaders in Northeast Ohio. Sue chaired the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women 2012-2013 Campaign, increasing awareness of heart disease and stroke in women and raising funds for medical research and education. A 2004 graduate of Leadership Cleveland, she also serves on the Board of College Now Greater Cleveland and chairs the Medical Mutual of Ohio Charitable Foundation.
