Sarah Flannery, who leads Thompson Hine’s immigration practice, has been with the firm for more than 12 years – her entire legal career. Sarah received her law degree in 2002 from Cleveland-Marshall College of law.

She advises employers across the globe, including a number of Fortune 500 companies, on global talent management and cross-border employment issues. Her practice primarily focuses on developing strategic immigration policies for employers consistent with their global talent acquisition and retention goals, supporting clients’ immigration sponsorship for their employees, and advising clients on compliance with immigration-based regulations. Flannery was one of ten lawyers recognized by Crain’s Cleveland’s Who to Watch in the Law in 2013.

After years of involvement in addressing the needs of professional women within the firm, Sarah recently moved into the role of firmwide chair of Thompson Hine’s Women’s Initiative, Spotlight on Women®. Spotlight on Women offers career and leadership development guidance, mentoring and programs focused on networking and professional growth for the firm’s women attorneys. Through the outstanding work of this program, Thompson Hine has received national acclaim for its work on women’s issues, having been named for three consecutive years as a Best Law Firm for Women by Working Mother magazine and Flex-Time Lawyers. The firm also has received Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum, has been recognized by The Project for Attorney Retention as a Top Tier Firm, and has been honored by the Euromoney Legal Media Group Americas Women in Business Law Awards as the best national firm for talent management for its Spotlight on Leaders program and for the best gender diversity initiative by a national firm.
