JENIFER A. BELT joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP in 1995. She is a partner in the health law practice group.

Her practice includes both transactional and litigation matters for a range of health care providers, including health systems, hospitals, long term care providers, physician groups, physicians, and health care networks. Her principal areas of practice include regulatory compliance, fraud and abuse, reimbursement, hospital-physician relations, HIPAA, managed care, and licensure and certification. She has written articles and lectured on various health law topics, including HIPAA, the Medicare Modernization Act, compliance programs, fraud and abuse, and risk management.

Ms. Belt is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® in the health law category and has been recognized as a Rising Star by Ohio Super Lawyers®. Ms. Belt is also a recipient of the Toledo Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Area Law” recognition. She was named one of 2013’s Most Powerful and Influential Women of Ohio by the National Diversity Council.

Ms. Belt is a member of the Toledo, Ohio State and American Bar Associations and the American Health Lawyers Association. Ms. Belt serves on the Boards of the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio, the Old West End Association, Ao: Advocating Opportunity, and the Ursuline Foundation. Ms. Belt is past-President of the University of Toledo College of Law Alumni Association and is past-Chair of the Health Law Committee of the Ohio State Bar Association.
