Viva McCarver is the Chief Human Resources Officer at Bowling Green State University. As the CHRO, Viva provides overall direction, strategic planning and leadership for the University’s Human Resources functionalities. Her areas of responsibility includes benefits and compensation; training and development; workers compensation; employee and labor relations; recruitment; compliance; and developing/designing policies, procedures and programs. She serves as a functional member of the President’s Cabinet providing ongoing assistance towards the University’s strategic goals.

Mrs. McCarver has over 20 years of progressive experience in Human Resource Management. Prior to joining BGSU, Viva was the Director, of Human Resources for NuTek Steel, a global steel automotive supplier.

She earned a Master’s Degree in Leadership & Organizational Development from the University of Findlay and she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management.

Viva is a co-author of the book titled “Women as Leaders: Strategies for Empowerment & Communication”. She is also a certified professional trainer and a member of the Professional Woman Network, an international consulting organization.
