Shelley Bird is a senior executive with global marketing, strategy, business transformation and policy experience, and over 25 years of experience at leading companies, including Cardinal Health, Motorola, NCR, and Royal Philips Electronics. She has helped companies navigate disruptive change, launch new ventures, and retool existing models. With more than a decade of living and working in Asia and Europe for U.S. and European multinationals, she has guided organizations through acquisitions and divestitures, geographic expansion, product introductions, material disclosures, and leadership and culture transitions.

Ms. Bird is Executive Vice President, Office of the CEO, at Cardinal Health and a member of the Operating Committee. For the past seven plus years, she has been responsible for global branding, corporate marketing, digital media, public relations, community relations and government affairs. Currently, Ms. Bird is serving as an advisor to the chairman and CEO, and as chairman of the Cardinal Health Foundation’s board of trustees. Additionally, by special appointment of the chairman and CEO, she is a consultant and strategist to the Columbus Partnership and its CEO-members on education reform and business community engagement.

From 1999 to 2006, Ms. Bird served as Chief Communications Officer of NCR. While in this position she led the company’s repositioning and guided its communications and stakeholder relations through a series of challenging transitions. Prior to NCR, Ms. Bird was a Vice President at Philips Consumer Communications (PCC), a global consumer telephony joint venture between Royal Philips Electronics and Lucent Technologies.

While working in Asia for global public relations agency Hill and Knowlton from 1989 to 1992, Ms. Bird focused on growing market share for American, European and home-grown brands such as Chanel, Conrad Hotels, Esprit, Giordano, Kellogg’s, KFC, Lux, and Patek Philippe, among others. Her corporate client list included many of the leading companies in Asia, including China Resources, Hang Lung Group, and Hutchison Whampoa. She also founded a multi-disciplinary consulting firm called Apropos Communications, serving clients in the ASEAN region. Ms. Bird began her career in Toronto, Canada with J. Walter Thompson, a global brand communications company and the fourth-largest advertising agency in the world.

She is a member of the Goodwill Columbus board of directors and serves on its audit and compliance committee. Ms. Bird is also a board director of the Wexner Center for the Arts. She is past chairman of the board and chairman of the finance committee of the International Association of Business Communicators, an industry association with over 14,000 members in more than 70 countries.

Ms. Bird is the founder of The Bindu Project, a social enterprise accelerator that acts as a private equity investor for charitable startups. She has a Doctorate in Communication and a Master of Arts degree in Communication Management from the University of South Australia in Adelaide.
