Mia Hairston is the Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer for Nationwide. She has enterprise-wide responsibilities for the strategy and execution of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion’s initiatives for over 33,000 Nationwide associates. She works closely with senior executives to promote and cascade the D&I strategy throughout the organization. In addition, she oversees all D&I programming, 16 Associate Resource Groups with approximately 19,000 memberships and 18 Business Unit Councils across the country, along with a host of national and local partnerships and sponsorships.
Mia is an accomplished business and human resources professional with over 25 years in the insurance and financial services industries. She brings a unique blend of inspirational leadership, business savvy, and advocacy to her position. Throughout her career she has held various leadership positions within Marketing Strategy & Analytics, Human Resources, Financial Sales & Service Operations and Learning & Development. Mia has been recognized by Smart Business, Savoy and Black Enterprise magazines among top chief diversity officers and leaders.
Mia holds a B.S. degree in Psychology with a minor in Business Administration from the University of North Alabama. She also holds a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) and Certified Diversity Practitioner (CDP) designations, along with a Change Management & White Belt Certification. Mia has previously held the series 6, 26 and Life and Health licenses and is certified as a Diversity Learning Expert. Mia also serves on the boards of the Central Ohio Diversity Council and Dress For Success.
