Damita Brown serves as a member of Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther’s cabinet as Chief Diversity Officer and Director of the Mayor’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion. In her role, Ms. Brown oversees diversity and inclusion management for the City of Columbus providing strategic oversight and policy guidance on key initiatives to support workforce and supplier diversity. The Mayor’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is responsible for advancing efforts to shape Columbus into a city that is “Open To All” and supports opportunities for every individual, family and community to share in the economic prosperity of Columbus.

Ms. Brown is an accomplished diversity and community relations professional, with more than 17 years of successful leadership and management experience in the field. Ms. Brown brings a rich and unique history and commitment to diversity and inclusion and her work has been distinguished by an ability to develop collaborative partnerships that transcend racial, economic and political lines. She is a graduate of Capital University, where she majored in Political Science and held a concentration in Ethnic Studies. Ms. Brown is also a graduate of The Ohio State University, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
