Ajay Das is vice president of strategy and business development for The Timken Company.
Named to this position in 2015, Das leads the development of the company’s enterprise strategy, including identification and evaluation of growth opportunities.
He previously served as vice president of quality advancement, responsible for quality management systems, quality assurance and quality advancement throughout the company, including business processes, product design, manufacturing, supply chain and administration.
In 2011, Das was named one of India’s most valued industrial business leaders by Business World magazine. Beginning in 2009, Das served as managing director of the company’s operations in India. He was responsible for the company’s operational and financial performance in India as well as acceleration of business growth.
From 2007-2009, Das served as general manager for wind energy and was based in Canton, Ohio. In that role, he developed the company’s strategy for the wind energy market.
He joined Timken in 1992 and served as national sales manager for India. He was named director of manufacturing at the company’s plant in Jamshedpur, India, in 2001. He later served as director of new business development in Asia and was based in Shanghai.
Das holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the National Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in business from Xavier Labour Relations Institute, both located in Jamshedpur. He served as the founding board member of Junior Achievement India and the founding chairperson of the manufacturing committee of the American Chamber of Commerce, India.
Das serves on the Board of Directors of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce.
