George Sample is a Cleveland native who graduated from John Hay High School. George proceeded to John Carroll University, where graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. He later returned to John Carroll to earn his MBA.

George spent ten years at The Lubrizol Corporation, his last three and a half years as Lubrizol’s Manager of Diversity and Inclusion. George has worked at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District for the past three years. His current role is Senior Human Resources Manager – Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning.

George is a member of the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Cleveland and the United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland. He serves on the membership engagement committee for the Commission on Economic Inclusion, an entity that is part of the Greater Cleveland Partnership. George also serves on the programs committee for the Cleveland chapter of the Society of Human Resources. He serves on the steering committee for the Loyola Club, an organization that gathers Jesuit-educated alums for food, fellowship and inspiration. In 2013, he was inducted into the Kaleidoscope Magazine 40/40 Club. In 2014, he won the Lead Diversity Outstanding Alumni award from the Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio. George was a finalist for the Crain’s Cleveland 2016 Archer Award – Rising Star.

In 2013, George completed his term as president of the John Carroll University Alumni Board, and also completed his term on John Carroll’s Board of Directors. In spring 2014, he completed his first semester as adjunct faculty for John Carroll, teaching a graduate level class in Leadership and Managerial Concepts. He was inducted into the John Carroll Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He won the John Carroll Young Alumni Award in 2014. George currently serves on the steering committee for John Carroll’s athletic booster club.
