Larry D. Swanner, M.D. is the current Vice President of Medical Affairs at Mount Carmel West Hospital and has been in that role since 2006. Prior to this, he chaired the Department of Family Medicine and the Clinical Department Council. In addition to serving three years as Associate Program Director for the Mount Carmel Health Family Practice Residency, Dr. Swanner is a former President of Medical Staff and Interim Director of Medical Education for Mount Carmel Health System.

Dr. Swanner received a Bachelor’s Degree from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and earned his Medical Degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. He conducted his Residency at Mercy/St. Luke’s Family Practice in Davenport, Iowa where he spent one year as Chief Resident.

He is a current member of the American College of Physician Executives. Dr. Swanner is responsible for the Mount Carmel Health System preparedness for Ebola and other emerging pathogens in concert with the CDC and ODH recommendations, having coordinated the planning process with other central Ohio health systems.

Dr. Swanner is providing executive leadership for Mount Carmel Health System in the implementation of Multidisciplinary Rounds to improve efficiency of care as well as interdisciplinary care coordination. In addition, he oversees physician and Allied Health practitioner credentialing for Mount Carmel Health System.

Dr. Swanner is married to his wife Debbie and resides in Pickerington. They have two children and two grandchildren. He is an accomplished musician, enjoys golf, and is very active in his local church.
