Thomas Hawn has spent more than 30 years in both the corporate and nonprofit worlds. Thomas professional work career has included Senior Vice President at KeyBank with responsibility for the Client Experience at Key Bank, Mass Market, Emerging Cultural Markets and the Underbanked Consumer Segments. Also, while at Key, he founded the Key Bank’s Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Employee Business Networking Group. Prior to joining Key Bank in 1999, Thomas served as the Chief Financial Officer of Slavic Village Development (SVD). SVD, a member organization of Greater Cleveland Community Shares, is a Cleveland based neighborhood development organization committed improving the quality of life in the Slavic Village neighborhood of Cleveland through housing, community organizing and commercial revitalization. During that time, Thomas held a variety of roles and responsibilities at the Progressive Corporation from 1982 through 1994.

Since leaving the corporate world in 2008, Thomas has helped for-profit and non-profit organizations confront issues of organizational effectiveness, workplace inclusion and diversity issues as well as assisting those organizations in aligning their strategies with their operational systems and goals.

Based on the experience of founding the LGBT Employee Resource Group at KeyBank, Thomas was a founding board member of Plexus, The Chamber of Commerce for the LGBT Community and Allie. And is the current board president of the Plexus Education Foundation. The Foundation was established to support LGBT individuals in the workplace. The foundation does this by providing an annual series of meetings where existing and emerging employee resource groups can learn from each other and outside speakers. In addition, the Foundation has embarked on a partnership with the Cleveland State University to create an “Authentic Leadership” program for LGBT individuals in the corporate, public and non-profit worlds.

Thomas received his undergraduate degree from Oakland University in Political Science and Computer Science and his M.A. in Psychology with a concentration in diversity management from Cleveland State University.

Mr. Hawn has served as the board president of Broadway Area Housing Coalition, Greater Cleveland Community Shares, The LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland and the Plexus Education Foundation.
